AS17-147-22548 (11 Dec. 1972) --- This is a photograph of the LSP geosphere flag on the lunar surface. The gnomon is in the foreground, while Apollo Lunar Scientific Experiments Package (ALSEP) and north Massif is in the background. The Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV) is also seen in the right background. While astronauts Eugene A. Cernan, commander, and Harrison H. Schmitt, lunar module pilot, descended in the Lunar Module (LM) "Challenger" to explore the Taurus-Littrow region of the moon, astronaut Ronald E.
