"Goldsmith's Friend Abroad Again" by Mark Twain is a satirical narrative that can be classified as a collection of letters written during the late 19th century. This work captures the experiences of a Chinese immigrant, Ah Song Hi, as he travels to America—a land he believes to be filled with opportunity and freedom. However, through his letters, Twain critiques the harsh realities and discrimination faced by Chinese immigrants in America. In this collection, Ah Song Hi recounts his journey from China to San Francisco, filled with hope for a better life. Upon arrival, however, he faces a series of humiliations and injustices, including mistreatment by authorities and the general populace.
